Building the UI

Labels, popovers & foldouts

Selected Entry → Display controls how an entry appears in the generated UI. Full and Rigify provide the controls on this page. Free keeps its supported scalar and array label layouts, with a simpler generated panel.

Labels and compact controls

Setting Result
One Row Label and control share the normal Blender row.
One Row, Split Label Blender places the label in a separate left column.
Label Above The label sits above the control; supported types can add text styling, alignment and icons.
Compact Layout The control keeps its natural width inside the assigned row or column.

Arrays also offer separate component rows and split component labels. These layouts work with compatible Custom sources and Display Links as well as managed properties. Compact Layout applies to properties, operators, text and native ramp/curve widgets; row insets and column widths still apply.

Native Popover

Enable Native Popover to put one entry's control inside a popup. The launcher uses the entry label once, inside its button.

Setting What it does
Popover Button Style: Dropdown Blender's attached dropdown popover.
Popover Button Style: Button A normal button that opens the popup.
Compact Button Keeps the launcher at its natural width.
Compact Popup Keeps the popup content compact.
Popover Icon Adds a Blender icon to the launcher.
Show Label in Popup Includes the configured label inside, or shows only the control.
Popup Content → Keyframe Buttons Adds animation diamonds beside supported values.

An attached Dropdown popup is at least as wide as its launcher. Enable Compact Button to use a compact popup with that style. Button style lets you use a full-width launcher and a compact popup independently.

Popovers also work inside generated sub-panels and resolve their own sources.

Keyframe buttons

Keyframe Buttons is off by default. Click a diamond to insert or remove a key at the current frame. Separate array fields target their own component. This is useful when hovering I or Alt-I does not work inside a popup.

A complete Color Ramp or Curve Mapping is not one animatable property, so it does not receive a whole-widget diamond. Integer sliders use the real stored integer property for native animation and drivers.

Native Foldout

Native Foldout collapses one control. It needs a full-width standalone row outside Row Boxes. In Rigify it also requires Separate Panel output.

For larger sections containing several entries, use sub-panels or Row Boxes.

String entries, Custom string sources and string Display Links can enable Multiline, with 1–20 Visible Lines and a Placeholder. Blender 5.2 uses its native multiline editor; earlier supported versions use an ordinary string field.

A Text entry with Role Text can set an HTTP/HTTPS Link URL. Blender 5.2 draws a text link, while earlier versions show a clickable URL button. Leave the URL empty for ordinary text. Icon Hug Text controls apply to centered text; left and right alignment already keep icons attached.

Regenerate after changing generated appearance. Entry presets, type defaults, same-type copying and Display Link's Reset to Source Settings preserve these display choices.
