Building the UI
Capture existing controls
Full and Rigify can turn an existing Blender property into a Custom entry. The generated panel edits the original property, so you can gather controls from objects, modifiers, materials and nodes into one panel.
Capture from Blender
- Right-click a supported property and choose Add to PropUI (Full) or Add to PropUI (Rigify).
- Review the source path and generated label. For an array, choose the whole value or an individual component.
- Choose whether to add the entry to Generated Layout.
- Generate the panel, or generate the rig through Rigify.
Full adds the entry to the current scene's setup. Rigify follows the selected or pinned PropUI component; when several destinations are available, choose the metarig and host component in the capture dialog. Cancel leaves the setup alone, and adding an entry is undoable.
You can also use Blender's Copy Full Data Path, then choose Entry Tools → Add from Copied Data Path. Entry Tools is the arrow menu beside the Entry List, below its eye icon.
Color Ramps and Curves
A Custom entry automatically recognizes an existing Color Ramp or Curve Mapping and draws Blender's native editor. For example:
bpy.data.materials["Material"].node_tree.nodes["Color Ramp"].color_ramp
bpy.data.materials["Material"].node_tree.nodes["RGB Curves"].mapping
Replace those names with your own material and nodes. The node data must already exist. Editing the generated control changes that original node, including every material or object that shares its node tree.
The label follows your One Row, Split Label, or Label Above choice, including when the widget is drawn through a Display Link. A fixed pointer to a ramp or curve does not by itself make its contents read-only; linked or otherwise non-editable data still follows Blender's restrictions.
Repair a source
For an existing Custom entry, Copy Path copies its source. Copy a replacement path in Blender and use Use Copied Path to update the same entry while keeping its identity and place in the layout.
Validate Setup checks references without changing the design. Use Reveal Entry to select a reported entry in PropUI. For older Geometry Nodes input paths, see Blend File Inspection.
Paths must start with bpy. and use attributes or literal name/index lookups.
Function calls and arbitrary Python expressions are not source paths. Use an
Operator Button for actions.
See Control Groups and actions to add Bone Collection controls or shared Reset, Key and value-preset buttons.
